Bio
I am an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Gdansk University of Technology (GdanskTech, Poland).
I obtained my MSc in Economics from Gdansk University of Technology (2003) and Università Politecnica delle Marche (2005), followed by an MA in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Sussex (2006, with distinction). I obtained my PhD in Economics from the Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy) in 2008. In July 2016, I received my habilitation in economics (for which I was awarded the prize of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
I was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, USA (Fulbright Senior Award, host: Prof. David Card) and at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain, host: Prof. Antonio Ciccone). Over the years I have also studied/researched/taught at IfW Kiel, Germany; University of Rome - La Sapienza; Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy; University of Macerata, Italy; Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Portugal; Yaşar University, Izmir, Turkey; Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest, Hungary.
My research interests focus on international economics, global innovation patterns, and how trade, integration and technological progress impact labour markets and productivity.
Currently, I am involved in a project RETHINK-GSC ("Rethinking Global Supply Chains: measurement, impact and policy", funded by Horizon-Europe, 2022-2025) and, as Principal Investigator, in a project "Technological specialisation and productivity divergence in the age of digitalisation, automation and AI" (2021-2025).
