Biography

Anita Jaśkiewicz-Sojak (PhD Eng Arch) architect, architectural historian and conservator, assistant professor in the Department of History, Theory of Architecture and Monument Preservation, Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology.

Education: graduate studies and doctoral studies in architecture and urban planning (Gdańsk University of Technology), graduate studies in history (University of Gdańsk) and post graduate studies in monument preservation (Cracow University of Technology). In 2013 she defended her doctoral thesis “Large Hospitals in the Former East and West Prussia Region in the Second Half of 19th Century and the Beginning of 20th Century and Their Preservation”.

Professional practice: in architectural and monument’s protection offices (in the state administration in Gdańsk and in local administration in Wejherowo). Author and co-author of several articles, expert opinions and documentations defining protection and conservation of cultural heritage. Filled position: Head of City Monuments Protection Office in Wejherowo.

Research interests: hospital’s architecture, preservation of cultural heritage (included architecture and gardens), architecture and gardens of 19th and 20th century, modernist architecture of Wejherowo.

Member of Historical Monuments & Art Conservators Association in Poland (Stowarzyszenie Konserwatorów Zabytków) and City Monuments Protection Officerses Association (Stowarzyszenie Samorządowych Konserwatorów Zabytków).
