Biography
Beata Krawczyk, PhD, Professor
- Academic degrees, education, qualifications: B. Krawczyk earned his master degree in Biology at the University of Gdansk, Biology Faculty, in 1986, and her PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Gdansk, Biology Faculty, in 1996. Postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in biological sciences in the discipline biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Szczecin, Szczecin, in 2009. In 2012 she participated in a research internship at the University of the Mediterranean, Faculty of Medicine of Marseilles, France, as visiting Professor (outgoing fellowship).She has been working at Gdansk University of Technology from 1991 until now, as an academic teacher and scientist. Since 2016 she has been an associate professor in the Department of Molecular Biotechnology and Microbiology at the Gdańsk University of Technology. 2016 -2017 Acting Head of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology and Microbiology, Gdańsk University of Technology.

- Professional interests: B. Krawczyk is a microbiologist and molecular biologist whose work is focused on molecular diagnostics and phylogenetic analysis of bacterial strains, clinic microbiology and molecular epidemiology, biotechnology (new polymerases DNA and application, molecular assays for detection and differentiation strains and bacteria/fungal species). Her research is mainly rooted within epidemiology, and pathogenesis of E. coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Acinetobacter spp. Her recent research is urinary tract infections and sepsis/urosepsis. She is interested in the detection of virulence factors important to UTI and sepsis, and antibiotic resistance mechanisms. The author of many student books, original articles related to microbiology and molecular diagnostics and review articles published in scientific and professional journals. Her published works deal with the design of molecular tests, evaluation and application of molecular typing methods of bacteria and fungi, problems with sepsis and susceptibility to antibiotics.
