Biography
Krzysztof Wilde (born January 11th, 1966 in Gdańsk) – expert in bridge structures, structural mechanics and diagnostics of civil structures. He conducted research on vibration reduction systems for bridges exposed to dynamic loads from winds and earthquakes. At present he is interested in the field of nondestructive testing of materials and structural health monitoring systems. Hi is author or coauthor of over 200 publications and 4 patents.
In 1984-1989 he studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Gdańsk University of Technology and in 1992-1995 he was a PhD student at the Tokyo University in Japan. In 1995-1999 he was working at the Tokyo University achieving position of associate professor. At present he is employed at the Gdańsk University of Technology and he is a head of the Department of Mechanics of Materials and Structures.
Prof. Krzysztof Wilde used to be a Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering of Gdańsk University of Technology in 2004-2008 and he is serving this duty in 2016-2020. He is a member of the Committee on Civil Engineering and Hydroengineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Committee on Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2015-2017 he is leading the interdisciplinary team appointed by Minister of Science and Higher Education, Republic of Poland to advise on investments in Polish science. He was leading the expert team of Committee for Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes Minister of Science and Higher Education. He is a vice chairman of Pomerania Chamber of Civil Engineers and a member of Main Board of the Academic Sports Association.
He is husband of Anita, father of daughters Daria, Sara and son Szymek, interested in sailing, skiing and motorcycles of cruiser type.
