Analysis of the level of safety and conditions of bicycle traffic on the basis of data collected by sensors located in the bicycle.

The research in which I intend to participate as part of my internship is based on the use of data collected by in-vehicle sensors to classify the functional performance of road infrastructure in terms of safety and mobility comfort. Measurements obtained by in-vehicle sensors (ADAS), smartphone, monitoring systems, or obtained via APIs from the cloud, must allow continuous monitoring of vehicle dynamics to record vibrations transmitted through the road surface or sudden changes in speed and trajectory, which can e.g. be generated by traffic collisions with other road users. The purpose of the study is to analyze the data needed and the possibility of identifying critical events (conflict or pre-conflict) while cycling in an urban environment. The results of the Miniatura research activity will constitute an introduction to further research at the test range in Poland. I plan to develop the results of the pilot study later in the application planned for submission to subsequent editions of the OPUS competition from the National Science Center as well as in the program IDUB. The planned project assumes an analysis of cyclists' behavior in Polish road conditions on the basis of collected digital data. For this you will need a bicycle equipped with the appropriate measuring equipment. Thanks to the knowledge gained during the internship, I will have knowledge about the specifications of such a bike and equipment. I will also be able to clearly and comprehensively present the assumed work plan for the project and the research methodology in the grant application. In a future project, he plans to continue cooperation with the University of Catania and possibly other foreign partners. The cooperation will result in joint publications in highly scored foreign journals. In the perspective of several years, the development of research initiated by MINIATURE may lead to the scientific development of the manager and the creation of a monograph, which will the basis for submitting an application for the award of the degree of habilitated doctor
