Method development and application for the analysis of the composition of human milk oligosaccharides.
The aim of the proposed project is to develop, validate and apply an analytical procedure ensuring the determination of Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs). The implementation of the goal specified in the project requires the development of a procedure including the following stages: HMOs extraction, chromatographic separation, and determination of HMOs using the technique of high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-Q-TOF-MS), preparation of data for biostatistical and chemometric analysis, and data analysis. The statistical and chemometric analysis of the chromatographic results, including the demonstration of the significant differences in the HMO content levels between human milk samples collected at different periods of lactation and from various donors.
This project will be a great chance to improve the applicant's project management skills, including financial management skills, and gain experience to be an independent researcher. Therefore, the implementation of the project will affect the education of young academic staff.
