Effect of curing conditions on the temperature evolution of concrete - analysis of boundary conditions in experimental and numerical approach
One of the most important issue of the development of concrete maturity is the correct identification of boundary conditions and the selection of a mathematical model compatible with the measurement possibilities. The aim of the project is to identify the influence of the boundary conditions on the temperature evolution of concrete. The research program includes laboratory tests on concrete samples curing in three controlled conditions: adiabatic, semi-adiabatic and isothermal. The adiabatic calorimeter enables the registration of concrete temperature using PT100 sensors and enables the measurement of the hydration heat released. In samples stored in isothermal and semiadiabatic conditions, the concrete temperature will be measured using digital sensors type ds18b20. Concrete samples will be formed of several concrete mixes differing in the type of cement and aggregate. A set of numerical tests to compare the measured and forecast concrete temperature will be performed. The results of experimental tests and numerical calculations will allow the assessment of the influence of boundary conditions on the concrete hydration process. The project will allow to develop new research methods in the field of concrete technology and will positively influence the increase of cooperation between Gdańsk University of Technology and industry.
