Abstract
The Lowland Gate has been built in 1626. It is one of the best-preserved historical buildings in Gdansk. The structure is still of the city's infrastructural importance as through it goes a road connecting two districts. The Gate is now so neglected that it is hard to appreciate its value. The main purpose of the investigation carried out was to determine the harmfulness of the traffic on the structure as well as the reasons of the main cracks which appeared. In the research, Polish code and other indicators based on accelerations measured in several points of the Gate have been used. The investigation allowed us to determine the dynamic behavior of the Gate, checking its overall stiffness and defining the most harmful dynamic influences.
