Abstract
The following article presents the situation on the maritime container transport market in the Baltic Sea Region. In the first part the author focuses on describing the specifics of the economic and geopolitical area of the Baltic Sea. The following parts include the market container shipping description along with its individual participants, such as carriers or seaports. Finally, the dynamic development of Polish container ports and their leading role in the region are presented.
