Elżbieta Marczak (Architect, Phd) –  Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology, Department of Urban Architecture and Waterscapes (since 1997). Studies at the Faculty of Architecture GUT graduated in 1995. Degree of Doctor obtained in 2006 presenting dissertation The ship’s architecture against the background of the maritime transport development. Her research and publications focus on the topic related to the architecture of the ship and are a continuation of the subject, which was initiated by Prof. W. Tomaszewski and Prof. W. Urbanowicz in the 50s, when it was formulated by the discipline of ships architecture. GUT as one of two universities in Poland allows the execution of the project diploma in ships architecture. Her research relate primarily to development of the human environment on board and the relations between the architecture like a technical object which is the ship, and the wide field of human environment. In 2007-2009, she participated in the implementation of the research grant Architecture and ship design and construction issues. Her articles and papers published by the journal of the national and international levels.

Another  area of research are scientific activities in the field of architectural education, implemented in the framework of an educational project Architectural Educator, established at the Faculty of Architecture of GUT in 2011/2012 acad. year, which is coordinator. As part of this activity is carried out workshops for children and youth based on knowledge of space design. The results of the research and activities undertaken serves as a base to prepare, in collaboration with students, the publication of popular science: Pomorskie ABC Space. Illustrated Dictionary for Children, containing CD with educational materials for teachers (schedules of the lessons in the field of architectural education). The publication financed by POIA RP was released in 2016.

 

Other interests: popularizing activity in the field of architectural education, a good book, a crossword puzzle.
