Jacek Marszal received M.Sc., Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering at Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland, in 1977, 1989 and 2014 respectively. His scientific specialty is underwater acoustics. Immediately after graduation in 1977,  he started working at the Gdansk University of Technology, where since 2015 he is the Head of the Department of Marine Electronic Systems. He is the author and co-author of more than 180 papers, 10 patents and numerous implementations mainly related to the development of navy sonar systems. He is the member of the Polish Acoustical Society and the European Acoustics Association. Since 2014 he has held the position of President of the of the Gdansk Division of the Polish Acoustical Society.
