Biography
Karol NIKLAS is an Assistant Professor and Researcher at The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland. Awarded a Master of Science degree (Naval Architect, specialty: Design of vessels and yachts) by GUT in 2007. Postgraduate study in 'Novel Simulation Methods in Engineering' at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics in 2008. In 2014 awarded a PhD degree by GUT with thesis ‘Application of local stresses in the fatigue analysis of steel sandwich panel laser welds’. Professional and scientific interest in the field of design (CAD), numerical simulations (FEA, CFD) and experimental testing of ship and offshore structures. Researcher having over 15 years of experience in cooperation with an industry. Participated in 15 international research projects, head of 2. Co-author of over 20 scientific publications indexed by the WoS Core Collection, over 50 conference publications, over 100 technical reports. Hobby: yachting, biking, travelling.
