Biography

Leszek Jarzebowicz received the M.Sc., Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees from Gdansk University of Technology (GUT), Poland, in 2005, 2010 and 2019, respectively.

His research areas include control and modeling of electric drives, diagnostics of railway vehicles, analysis of energy efficiency in electrified transport, and microprocessor implementation of control algorithms. His teaching interests focus on electric vehicles, electrical engineering in transport, teleinformatics, and electromobility. He supervised 1 Ph.D.,  31 M.Sc. and 26 B.Sc. Eng. theses.

He is an associate professor with GUT and a head of Electric Traction Laboratory. He authored and co-authored over 60 scientific papers, i.a. published in IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Control Engineering Practice, IET Power Electronics.

He was a principal investigator in a scientific grant funded by National Science Centre, Poland (2018-19). He participated as a resercher in 6 projects funded by National Science Centre, National Centre for Research, and Development and Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Since 2020 he is a principal investigator at GUT in an internatonal grant focused on electric drives for vehicles (H2020-MSCA-RISE). Also, since 2022 he is a principal investigator in a project supported by GDAŃSK TECH CORE RESEARCH FACILITIES program.


He received four GUT Rector's awards for scientific achievements (2012, 2013,2017 and 2018), four for teaching accomplishments (2010, 2018, 2019, 2020), three for R&D successes (2018, 2019, 2020) and two organizational (2021, 2022) ; excellent PhD thesis award from Industrial Reseach Institute for Automation and Measurements (2011); two best paper awards (2008 and 2013) from the Committee of Application of Computers in Science and Technology. He received various scientific scholarships: ‘Santander Universidades’ (2017), ‘AdvancedPhD' (2013 and 2014)', InnoDoktorant' (2008). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a reviewer in three IEEE journals.
