A dynamic vehicle-bridge model based on the modal identification results of an existing EN57 train and bridge spans with non-ballasted tracksPublication
This paper addresses the methodology of the bridge-vehicle dynamic model definition based on the free response measurements of an existing train and existing bridge spans. In the case of the railway vehicle, the methodology uses the impulse excitations of a single car by means of the wedge method. In the case of the bridge spans, free responses are collected after the passages of trains. The global modal parameters (frequencies...
Monitoring the stiffness of adhesives is a crucial issue when considering the durability andstrength of adhesive joints. While there are many studies conducted on specimens madeonly from adhesive, the problem of curing of an adhesive film in real joints is moderatelyconsidered. This paper presents the monitoring of stiffening of epoxy adhesive using ultra-sound. Ultrasonic pulse velocity method was firstly applied for monitoring...
Controllable/active bearings are mainly associated with active magnetic bearings (AMBs), whereas active bearing control is also found in many types of bearings, e.g. fluid, gas and hybrid bearings. The article presents a review of the literature describing the structure and results of studies of active bearings. Active control brings a number of benefits resulting in the fact that their use as a support for rotors becomes increasingly...
The paper presents results of the comprehensive theoretical and experimental investigation of crack detection in metallic plate using guided wave propagation. The main aim of the paper is to develop the novel method which would allow for linear crack size estimation with the use of minimal number of the transducers. In general, there exists the relation between length of the propagation path and the wave amplitude value. However,...
This paper presents results of investigations on a three-dimensional (3-D) isotropic periodic beam. The beam can represent a vibroacoustic isolator of optimised dynamic characteristics in the case of its longitudinal, flexural and torsional behaviour. The optimisation process concerned both the widths as well as the positions of particular frequency band gaps that are present in the frequency spectrum of the beam. Since the dynamic...
The paper presents the application of the optimal control method at the energy perfor- mance index towards motion control of the 2-wheeled mobile robot. With the use of the proposed method of control the 2-wheeled mobile robot can realise effectively the desired trajectory. The problem of motion control of mobile robots is usually neglected and thus performance of the realisation of the high level control tasks is limited.

An accelerogram of the instantaneous phase of signal components referred to as an instantaneous frequency rate spectrogram (IFRS) is presented as a joint time-frequency distribution. The distribution is directly obtained by processing the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) locally. A novel approach to amplitude demodulation based upon the reassignment method is introduced as a useful by-product. Additionally, an estimator of energy...
A modified method of vibration surveillance by using the optimal control at energy performance indexPublication
A method of vibration surveillance by using the optimal control at energy performance index has been creatively modified. The suggested original modification depends on consideration of direct relationship between the measured acceleration signal and the optimal control command. The paper presents the results of experiments and Hardware- in-the-loop simulations of a new active vibration reduction algorithm based on the energy...
Remarkable grow in demand both of mobile platform operability performance and reduction of project leading time development encourage to apply modern algorithms and reliable engineering tools for the design process. The paper discusses the mechatronic design applied for the surveillance system based on the energy performance index algorithm. The exploited mechatronic techniques i.e. virtual prototyping, Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation...
Conveyor belt type checkweighers are complex mechanical systems consisting of a weighing sensor (strain gauge load cell, electrodynamically compensated load cell), packages (of different shapes, made of different materials) and a transport system (motors, gears, rollers). Disturbances generated by the vibrating parts of such a system are reflected in the signal power spectra in a form of strong spectral peaks, located usually in...
The paper presents an application of changes in propagating waves for damage detection in a stiffened aluminium plate. The experimental investigation was conducted on an aluminium plate with riveted two L-shape stiffeners. The wave has been excited with a piezoelectric transducer and measured with the Laser Scanning Doppler Vibrometer. Recorded signals were analysed using the special signal processing techniques developed for damage...
W pracy przedstwiono sposoby porawy czułości metod detekcji uszkodzeń wykorzystujacych eksperyentalne parametry modalne konstrukcji. Wykazano, że zastosowanie zawansowanych technik obróbki sygnałów pomiarowych pozwala zdecydowanie poprwaić skutecznośc znanych z literatury metod.
Artykuł dotyczy drgań samowzbudnych typu chatter podczas obróbki szybkościwowej frezami kulistymi. Opisano w nim niestacjonarny model procesu skrawania oraz przeprowadzono analizy dynamiki układu z opóźniającym sprzężeniem zwrotnym. W celu zredukowania drgań zaproponowano zmiany prędkości obrotowej wrzeciona. Przedstawiono także procedurę nadzorowaia drgań z wykorzystaniem opisanej metody. Dla wybranych przypadków, w artykule przedstawiono...
