3D printed ABS thermoplastic vs. steel. Dry sliding wear test in constant load & velocity ring on flat configuration. Test parameters: print layer thickness and orientation. Test symbol: 039_h_5

Description

Data gathered in sliding ring-on-block (flat contact) tribological experiment. Materials: alloy steel (heat treated) vs. ABS plastic.

Rotational specimen (ring) dimensions 15.2 mm ID, 22 mm OD. Non-rotational specimen prismatic: 30x30x5 [mm], FDM 3D printed  of ABS thermoplasic material.  Thicknesses of 3D print layer: 0,39 [mm]. Prismatic specimen orientation in print: horizontal. Prismatic specimen individual number in set: 5.

Test conditions: sliding friction (rotation of the ring specimen), constant load (400N) & velocity (0.1 m/s). Intermittent test regime - sequence of 5 minute consecutive test runs with specimen examination at intermissions.

Output data (time domain): friction coefficient, wear, temperature.
