Description

This is the histopathological image of SKIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: HIV+. Anemia. Lymphadenopathy. Suspicion of Kaposi sarcoma- numerous lesions on skin of face, thorax, thighs.

Diagnosis: Kaposi sarcoma

Result of the histopathological examination: Kaposi sarcoma: Proliferation of slit-like or dilated vascular channels formed by spindled endothelial cells. Vascular channels infiltrate deeper dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Extravasated erythrocytes, hemosiderin and inflammatory cells are present. CD34+, CD31+, HHV8+, S100-, CKAE1/AE3-, Ki-67 20%.
