Description

This is the histopathological image of CONNECTIVE, SUBCUTANEOUS AND OTHER SOFT TISSUES tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: VS200 Olympus slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Giant pleural tumor.

Diagnosis: Neoplasm, malignant

Result of the histopathological examination: Liposarcoma myxoides. In the tumor, extensive areas of necrosis (occupying about 70% of the neoplastic tissue) and areas of less differentiated cells. Both of the above-mentioned morphological factors may indicate a worse prognosis.
