Description

This is the histopathological image of BRAIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Hospital death, a 55-year-old patient with a diagnosed tumor within the skull and respiratory failure. Suspicion of tuberculosis.

Result of the histopathological examination: In the samples of focal brain lesions, metastases of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma are present. The tumor also extensively affected soft meninges of the brain and spinal cord and is characterized by intense neuroinvasion (leptomeningitis carcinomatosa).
