Description
Since 2005, the financial support system for students has been operating on the basis of on the Act of 27 July 2005, the Law on Higher Education (Journal of Laws No. 164, item 1365), as amended, and detailed regulations for determining the amount, awarding and payment of financial assistance benefits for students determined by rectors in consultation with university authorities student self-governments on the basis of statutory authorization (Article 186 of the Act). Persons eligible to apply
students of public universities are eligible for financial assistance and non-public. In accordance with the law in force in the academic year 2010/2011, as part of financial assistance, the student could apply for a social scholarship, a scholarship for academic or sports results, a special scholarship for disabled people, a minister's scholarship for academic achievements, a minister's scholarship for outstanding sports achievements, a scholarship for meals, a housing scholarship or an allowance. It was possible to receive several benefits of financial assistance at the same time by one student.
In the academic year 2010/2011, scholarships were awarded to 134.2 thousand. students of private universities. 53.1 thous. people received social scholarships. In addition, 71.6 thous. people received scholarships for results in science or sports, and 2.6 thousand. students of non-public universities received funded scholarships. 6.9 thousand received special scholarships. disabled people studying at non-public universities
