The scanning tunnelling micrographs of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite

Description

The dataset contains the results imaging of a sample of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite obtained using scanning tunneling microscopy. The above variant of scanning probe microscopy is one of the most convenient research techniques at atomic scales. The file contains images corresponding to increasing magnifications from the 1 um scale to a few nanometers. They allow to analyze the surface of a carbon sample at various scales showing the arrangement of planes with the structure of graphene and the arrangement of carbon atoms in the crystal lattice. The attached file comes from the didactic experiment.

The files are in binary form, the contents are maps of various physical quantities in the two-dimensional spatial domain. The files can be accessed both with the Nova software included with NT-MDT microscopes and with the free Gwyddion software to be downloaded at http://gwyddion.net/.
