Tombstone of Simon Bahr in St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk

Description

The data set concerns epigraphy. It refers to the tombstone placed in St. Mary’s Church in Gdańsk which is dedicated to Simon Bahr, the merchant and banker of the Swedish King John III Vasa and his son, Sigismund III Vasa, king of Poland and Sweden. Simon formed powerful alliances by marrying his numerous offspring into the finest Gdańsk families. The data set contains one general photo of the tombstone, transcription of its text in Latin, its Polish translation, and the short biography of the deceased, also in Polish.
