The data presents results of work within the participatory planning process: Towards Compact City – Gdańsk-Osowa district case study, proposal no 5, from February 2022. The result/ aim of the process was to present the new, innovative design visions for the area located in Gdańsk-Osowa district in the context of land use plan. The participatory methodology was used the add extra value for the process. The city councilors, city urban planners and citizens took part are a review committee.

The aim of the research was to test the ideas of “compact” and “walkable” cities in the context of a suburban neighborhood. The dataset presents design of the possible solutions for empty and crucial due to its location area that could be redeveloped in the sustainable paradigm. 

The dataset presents the design work of students of the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology (FA Gdańsk Tech) -  5th semester of the Bachelor Studies (undergraduate studies) at the FA Gdańsk Tech coordinated by prof. Justyna Martyniuk-Pęczek. The participatory process of design was conducted between October 2021 and January 2022. Parallel the discussion about the new land-use plan was conducted on the municipal level. The results of the research were presented for the Gdańsk Municipality.
The design results in dataset are the effect of cooperation between Gdańsk University of Technology and the council of the Gdańsk-Osowa district. The design results in dataset form the basis for further research and development studies of the district.
