Description

This is the histopathological image of KIDNEY tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: VS200 Olympus slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Diagnosis: Wilms tumor

Result of the histopathological examination: Nephroblastoma (Wilms tumor) regressive type. The necrosis in the tumor accounts for approximately 90% of its area. Three components are present in the preserved tumor tissue: blastema (approximately 60%), stromal component (approximately 30%- myxoid, rhabdomoblastic), and epithelial component (approximately 10%).
