Biography

Paweł Burdziakowski, PhD, is a professional in low-altitude aerial photogrammetry and remote sensing, marine and aerial navigation. He is also a licensed flight instructor and software developer. His main areas of interest are digital photogrammetry, navigation of unmanned platforms and unmanned systems, including aerial, surface, underwater. He conducts research in algorithms and methods to improve the quality of spatial measurements from unmanned platforms.

Overall scientific and publication output includes a total of more than 35 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings and 2 chapters in an international scientific monograph. He has personally presented 5 papers at international scientific conferences and co-organised 2 international scientific conferences. The published works and papers are related to the application of unmanned platforms for photogrammetric measurements and non-contact measurement issues. In his scientific activities, he has developed a number of new innovative methods to improve the quality of image data based on deep neural networks and data and environmental information extraction.

He is the author of a new diploma course in low-altitude photogrammetry. He leads the teaching of the course in 5 disciplines. He is the author of new developments in didactics.

He has extensive professional experience in working with professional unmanned systems. He is an experienced constructor, designer and aerial modeller (he has been involved in aerial modelling for over 25 years). As a designer and builder, he builds professional research unmanned systems, where he specialises in automation, navigation and communication systems. 

He has completed specialist courses in UAVO and RPAS conducted at the Air Force Military Academy in Dęblin, modern communication and information systems at home and abroad. He holds a UAVO instructor's licence and has many years of experience as an aerial intructor. He is also a licensed competitor in the F3F cat glider class and an active PP paraglider pilot.
