Biography
He was born on March 25, 1992 in Gdańsk. After graduating from Junior High School No. 32, he attended the VIII Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. National Education Commission in Gdańsk, classes with a mathematical and geographical profile, obtaining a secondary school-leaving examination certificate in 2011. Then, in 2011-2016, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology. He graduated from the 1st degree studies in Geodesy and Cartography and 2nd degree studies in the specialization of Geodetic Techniques in Engineering. For very good results in science, he was awarded the Gold Graduate Badge of the Gdańsk University of Technology. During his studies, he was involved in the activities of multidisciplinary research teams and was the author of many publications.
After graduation, he started working at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at GUT, where he was employed as an assistant at the Department of Geodesy and Cartography in 2016-2019. In 2019, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Mining Surveying and Environmental Engineering of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, entitled "Application of the laser scanning technique to the analysis of periodic changes in the coastal zone, in particular cliffs". Since 2019, he has been working as an assistant professor at his home Department at the Gdańsk University of Technology. From 2020, he is the head of the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing team and a member of the team led by prof. dr. hab. Eng. Mikołaj Miśkiewicz.
He specializes in the use of devices that record images in space. He gained professional experience in ZUI Apeks Sp. z o.o. based in Gdańsk, where he had the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies of collecting and processing spatial information on mobile, aviation and stationary platforms. These methods allow for the remote acquisition of information about the measured object and the development of a number of analytical methods improving the safety of people and the environment. The culmination of research on the use of these technologies in the service of man was the project entitled "Implementation of the measurement procedure of the 3D laser scanning service from a floating platform", for which he was the main contractor. He also had the opportunity to cooperate in a project on bathymetric measurements of the Baltic Sea from an aviation platform using the Aviation Bathymetric Scanner, of which he was one of the originators.
Professional achievements and the opportunity to cooperate with companies gave Paweł Tysiąc the opportunity to conduct scientific research on remote registration of objects and publish their results in prestigious scientific journals in Polish and English. He presented the results of his research during scientific conferences in Gdańsk, Olsztyn, Vilnius and Prague. He participated in workshops organized by the European Space Agency and the Space Center in Great Britain.
He is a certified pilot of unmanned ships and has a number of certificates for cooperation and the use of specialized tools and software, including Riegl, Leica. During the implementation of research and improvement of his competences, he established extensive cooperation with companies and universities in the country and abroad, which resulted in his appointment as a member of the commission reviewing scientific articles (Sensors, International Journal of Geo-Information) or the editorial board of academic special issues (Applied Sciences) .
Paweł Tysiąc is the author of over 30 scientific publications, he was the supervisor of 12 MA theses and reviewed over 100 articles in journals from the JCR list.
