The objective of the planned research activity is to analyse the failure of a adhesive single-jap lap joint of thin sheets. The planned research is to lead to the creation of an advanced numerical model that will enable the automatic change of the values of the mechanical parameters of the adhesive layer depending on the prevailing stress state in it, thanks to the use of the author's procedure. A series of laboratory tests have been planned, taking into account the influence of variations in joint length, and adhesive layer thickness. Non-linear numerical analyses will be carried out using the Abaqus computational package. Spatial models of the specimens will be adopted, allowing detailed investigation of the stress distribution in all directions. Material models of the adhesive and sheets will include elastic, plastic and failure ranges. The use of the author's procedure will allow the values of the adhesive parameters to be varied locally depending on the prevailing stress state in it.
