Development of novel bifunctional ceramic coatings with osteoinductive and anti-oncogenic properties on metallic implants dedicated to the bone reconstruction after tumor resection obtained via the dual-step ultrasonic micro-arc oxidation

The aim of the project is to develop, produce and characterize bifunctional ceramic coatings on titanium alloy and magnesium for the treatment of bone tissue, especially in the case of bone cancer. The proposed calcium-phosphate coatings will have osteoinductive properties, and the addition of a drug or selenium compounds should provide the material anti-oncogenic properties. The proposed solution should improve the biological response and mechanical properties of biomaterials, as well as ensure their anti-oncogenic properties. The main technical problem to be solved within the project will be the development of the appropriate chemical composition of the electrolyte and the selection of parameters for the ultrasonic-assisted micro-arc oxidation process.
