Design and development of a high-efficiency wind turbine based on a slow-speed gearless multiphase doubly-fed induction generator

he project aims to develop a novel structure of the low-speed doubly-fed induction generator structure in which slip rings will be eliminated – brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BLDFIG) with a completely revised design featuring outstanding hi-tech style. Moreover, this kind of structure enables the elimination of the gearbox in wind turbine. The goal of the project is to develop an integrated structure of BLDFIG with a dedicated active and reactive power control algorithm system in 5 phase configuration. The project focuses on the framework of modern electric generators – brushless and without permanent magnet generators (e.g., use in modern wind power plants). Eliminating brushes and slip rings will significantly improve its reliability and efficiency, reduce geometric dimensions and mass, and ultimately reduce maintenance and service costs. Solution with 5-phase winding is entirely new and original and is not described in domestic or foreign literature.
