Contactless conveying of light objects utilizing Poisson's phenomenon and squeeze film acoustic levitation

TThe project comprised research on the phenomenon of acoustic levitation (Near Field Acoustic Levitation – NFAL, or Squeeze Film Acoustic Levitation – SFAL) and its use to build contactless transportation systems, applied to transportation to light objects. As main parts of the project, experimental tests were carried out with the use a specially built test stand and the computational model of the air lubricant film formed between the bearing plate and the lifted object were created. The computational model required taking into account the interaction between plate deformation, object movement and phenomena occurring in the air film volume. The established scientific basis is the basis for further research, which will start attempts to design transport systems for light objects in a contactless manner, i.e. without exposing them to damage. Such systems may be applicable to the transportation of light and fragile objects in the modern industry of the future. Transport in such conveyors will be carried out with low energy expenditure.
