Virtual Reality Technology in Architectural Heritage and Its Impact on Monument Conservation Approach.

The project titled "Virtual Reality Technology in Architectural Heritage and Its Impact on Conservation Approach" aims to address the rapid advancement of virtual reality technology and its potential integration with conservation practices. This research focuses on the unique architectural and historical significance of heritage monuments and explores how virtual reality can provide new insights and experiences related to these objects. The project also tackles the complex challenge of reconstructing non-existent architectural monuments, while considering the concept of conservation creationism and proposing intangible scientific virtual reconstructions as a solution. Additionally, modern digital tools like laser scanners and drones will be utilized to create digital inventories (digital twins) of architectural heritage objects, visualization techniques, computational science, and 3D graphics will be employed to develop an interdisciplinary and innovative research approach. The proposed project holds significant scientific value as it explores the subject of intangible virtual reconstructions and their potential impact on the conservation approach, offering innovative tools for heritage protection. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach that integrates literature, historical studies, architectural investigations, scanning techniques, visualization, computing science, and 3D graphics, the project aims to make meaningful contributions to the fields of heritage conservation and virtual reality technology.
