Abstract
Successful software development requires both agility and discipline. Optimal selection of methods, however, is not an easy task. The problem becomes even more difficult for long lasting projects. Appropriate selection of methods involving skillful introduction and abandonment of certain practices in time makes the whole process dynamic. The paper presents in this context a research project which was realized in a few iterations. Both agile and formal methods applied in the project are described. It is shown how each of them contributed to the success of the project often diminishing arising risks. Transition between different approaches in the project course is shown to illustrate how it was adjusted to the changing conditions.
