Abstract
In a most commonly met design of a wind turbine the power is transmitted from the rotor to the generator through the system composed of the main shaft, friction connection, multiplying gearbox and a flexible coupling. The driving system comprises almost a complete set of the machine elements being described during machine design lectures and can serve as an interesting illustration of the lectures.
