Introduction

The Department of Hydraulic Engineering has been in the structure of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering since 2007. It represents the basic scientific and didactic specializations for water engineering, constantly present and developed at the Gdańsk University of Technology. These are hydromechanics with hydraulics, hydrology and hydraulic engineering. In principle, the current structure of the Department corresponds to the structure of the Chair existing during the period of organizing the Gdańsk University of Technology. Namely, in the years 1945 - 1946, there was the Department of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Construction of Hydro Dams, Weirs and Water Power Plants. The research profile of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering is the result of the combination of the potential of the former Department of Hydraulics and Hydrology and some of the included Departments: of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management and of Marine Civil Engineering. On one hand, there is a strong theoretical core with which the didactic subjects taught by the Department are involved. On the other hand, the profile of the Department determines a strong relationship with engineering practice.

Research topics

Oferta badawcza

  • modelowanie przepływu w kanałach zamkniętych i otwartych
  • numeryczne modelowanie powodzi
  • teoretyczna analiza numerycznych modeli przepływów
  • badanie zjawisk przepływowych zachodzących w reaktorach (np. w oczyszczalniach ścieków)

Oferta usługowa

  • Wyznaczenie stref zagrożenia powodziowego;
  • Modelowanie zjawisk lodowych;
  • Laboratoryjne wyznaczanie wartości współczynników oporów lokalnych i na długości przy przepływie wody w przewodach pod ciśnieniem;
  • Sterowanie retencją wód opadowych i roztopowych
