Heat transfer intensification by enlarged surface roughness in the plate heat exchanger
PublicationIn the paper an experimental analysis of passive heat transfer intensification technique employed in the case of the plate heat exchanger is presented. The passive intensification was obtained by a modification of the heat transfer surface. The roughness of surface was increased by a use of glass micro-beads. Single-phase convective heat transfer in the water-water system was studied. The experiment was accomplished in two stages....

Microjet technology as a perspective intensification method for high performance heat exchangers
PublicationIn the paper two oryginal designs of compact heat exchangers with intensification effect produced by microjets are presented. The technology of microjets manufacturing is an "inhouse" patented design. The idea of such heat exchanger is shown together with the flow and thermal characteristics of the prototypes. The results of performer measurements are satisfactory and encourage for further research of the original designs.

Heat transfer intensification by jet impingement – numerical analysis using RANS approach
PublicationJet impingement is a method of the heat transfer enhancement applied in the engineering systems. The idea is to generate fast-flow fluid jet which impinge on the heated (or cooled) surface, causing significantly higher heat transfer rate. Although some flat surface jet impingement cases are described in the literature, the validated data is still limited. The reason is coming from the fact, that these flows are hydrodynamically...

Heat and mass exchange in the process of condensation on critical droplets.
PublicationSformułowano model wzrostu kropli krytycznej podając równania zmiany masy i temperatury kropli. Pokazano formę zlinearyzowaną tych równań dobrze aproksymującą wzrost kropli w poblizu wymiaru krytycznego. Podano rozwiązanie układu zlinearyzowanego uzależniając zmianę temperatury od zmiany masy kropli i czasu charakterystycznego.

Heat exchange enhancement of jet impingement cooling with the novel humped-cone heat sink
PublicationJet impingement cooling technology is applicable to control temperature of devices, where very high heat flux is generated within a small area. This paper is about the improvement of the jet impingement cooling efficiency by the heat sink geometry modification. Two reference cases were sourced from the literature – flat heat sink and modified one with cone in the jet stagnation region. Such a change improves cooling capability...

Recent advances of selected passive heat transfer intensification methods for phase change material-based latent heat energy storage units: A review
PublicationThe following article overviews recent studies regarding heat transfer enhancement methods, explicitly focusing on fins and coils utilization, in phase change material-based latent heat thermal energy storage systems. It discusses the influence of various geometrical and material parameters on the melting and solidification processes, as well as the orientation of the heat transfer surface within the storage tank. Additionally,...

Numerical solution analysis of fractional point kinetics and heat exchange in nuclear reactor
PublicationThe paper presents the neutron point kinetics and heat exchange models for the nuclear reactor. The models consist of a nonlinear system of fractional ordinary differential and algebraic equations. Two numerical algorithms are used to solve them. The first algorithm is application of discrete Grünwald-Letnikov definition of the fractional derivative in the model. The second involves building an analog scheme in the FOMCON Toolbox...

ORF Approximation in Numerical Analysis of Fractional Point Kinetics and Heat Exchange Model of Nuclear Reactor
PublicationThis paper presents results concerning numerical solutions of the fractional point kinetics (FPK) and heat exchange (HE) model for a nuclear reactor. The model consists of a nonlinear system of fractional and ordinary differential equations. Two methods to solve the model are compared. The first one applies Oustaloup Recursive Filter (ORF) and the second one applies Refined Oustaloup Recursive Filter (RORF). Simulation tests have...

A new construction of shell-and-tube heat exchanger with impinging jets and minichannels technologies for heat recovery from gases – experimental analysis
PublicationA dynamic development of technologies allowing waste heat utilization is observed in a correspondence with a pro-ecological approach of the zero waste idea. Such approach becomes the most demanding in the area of low-temperature was heat sources, especially gaseous media. Till now, they were usually not utilized due to unfavorable thermal conditions and high costs. Therefore, the zero waste approach directs research on techniques...
