In the first implementation, denoted PCG-V, a classical V-cycle is applied and the system of equations on the lowest level is solved...

Nonlocal Vibration of Carbon/Boron-Nitride Nano-hetero-structure in Thermal and Magnetic Fields by means of Nonlinear Finite Element Method
PublicationHybrid nanotubes composed of carbon and boron-nitride nanotubes have manifested as innovative building blocks to exploit the exceptional features of both structures simultaneously. On the other hand, by mixing with other types of materials, the fabrication of relatively large nanotubes would be feasible in the case of macroscale applications. In the current article, a nonlinear finite element formulation is employed to deal with...

Efficiency of new method of removing noisy background from the sequence of MRI scans depending on structure elements used to morphological processing
PublicationPrzedstawiono nową metodę usuwania zaszumionego tła z sekwencji skanów MRI. Każdy skan zawiera przekrój mózgu i tło, oba zaszumione. Tło należy wykluczyć z dalszej analizy. Eliminacji tła dokonano dzięki zastosowaniu opisanego algorytmu wykorzystującego podstawowe operacje morfologiczne: dylację, erozję, otwarcie i zamknięcie do uprzednio zbinaryzowanych zbiorów MRI. Zaprezentowano wyniki przetwarzania otrzymane dla różnych kształtów...

Single and Dual-GPU Generalized Sparse Eigenvalue Solvers for Finding a Few Low-Order Resonances of a Microwave Cavity Using the Finite-Element Method
PublicationThis paper presents two fast generalized eigenvalue solvers for sparse symmetric matrices that arise when electromagnetic cavity resonances are investigated using the higher-order finite element method (FEM). To find a few loworder resonances, the locally optimal block preconditioned conjugate gradient (LOBPCG) algorithm with null-space deflation is applied. The computations are expedited by using one or two graphical processing...

Discussion on “Coupled effective stress analysis of insertion problems in geotechnics with the Particle Finite Element Method” by L. Monforte, M. Arroyo, J.M. Carbonell, and A. Gens
PublicationAddressed here is the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) modelling of undrained CPTu penetration with regard to a reference analytical solution based on the Spherical Cavity Expansion Method (SCEM). Also discussed is the choice of the soil model and its parameters. The effect of cone interface friction on CPTu simulation is analyzed in a series of penetration tests using Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) and Updated Lagrangian...

Wykorzystaniem metody elementów skończonych w obliczaniu stateczności silosu z blachy falistej = Finite element method in determining stability of with corrugated walls strengthened by vertical columns of thin walled open cross section
W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie MES w analizie stateczności stalowego...
