CLAY MINERALS – MINERALOGY AND PHENOMENON OF CLAY SWELLING IN OIL & GAS INDUSTRY
PublicationAmong the minerals found in the earth's crust, clay minerals are of the widest interest. Due to the specific properties such as plasticity, absorbing and catalytic properties clay minerals are used in many industries (oil & gas, chemistry, pharmacy, refractory technology, ceramics etc.). In drilling, a phenomenon of swelling clays is frequently observed. It has an important impact on the cementing quality. During the last few decades...

The effect of 1,4-butanediol on the efficiency of CO2 absorption and inhibition of NH3 escape during the mineral carbonation of gypsum
PublicationThis study explored the optimal concentration of 1,4-butanediol for maximizing CO2 absorption and minimizing ammonia desorption. Mineral carbonation of gypsum slurry was carried out in a bubble reactor with a magnetic stirrer maintaining constant speed for 1 hour. The gas introduced to the reactor was a mixture of CO2 and air. The gas flow was controlled by the mass controllers. Gas sensors were used to determine the concentration...

Systems of General Grants for Local Governments in Selected EU Countries Against the Background of the General Theory of Fiscal Policy
PublicationFiscal policy, including its expenditure aspect, is often discussed and analysed from a variety of angles in the literature on public finances, undoubtedly due to the major importance of this topic. However, not all areas of the expenditure part of fiscal policy have been subjected to in-depth analysis. One of the less discussed tools of fiscal policy consists of general purpose transfers, which are a certain type of expenditure...

Quality of bottled waters
PublicationBottled water is a product that is purchased by annually increasing numbers of people of all age groups. The quality control of mineral waters tends to concentrate on the determination of anion and cation levels, since it is these that govern the taste, smell and possible medicinal properties of the water. The constantly rising sales of mineral waters bring with them the ever increasing exploitation of their sources. The consequences...

General grants and development – a relationship without a future? The effects of the structure of general grants on the development of local government units in Poland
PublicationThe purpose of this paper is to attempt to identify the reasons for the lack of relationship between general grant revenue and investment expenditure of local government units. The author formulated the hypothesis that there is no link between general grants and investment expenditure and that the reason for this are the current spending on education, absorbing the entire amount of general grants received by local government units....

Initial Field Validation of Poroelastic Pavement Made with Crumb Rubber, Mineral Aggregate and Highly Polymer-Modified Bitumen
PublicationTire/road noise in most driving conditions dominates other sources of traffic noise. One of the most efficient ways of reducing tire/road noise is to use the so-called “low noise pavement”. According to numerous studies, at present, poroelastic road pavement that is composed of rubber and mineral aggregate and polyurethane or bituminous binder gives the best noise reduction up to 12 dB. Unfortunately, there are many problems with...

Trees having many minimal dominating sets
PublicationWe provide an algorithm for listing all minimal dominating sets of a tree of order n in time O(1.4656^n). This leads to that every tree has at most 1.4656^n minimal dominating sets. We also give an infinite family of trees of odd and even order for which the number of minimal dominating sets exceeds 1.4167^n, thus exceeding 2^{n/2}. This establishes a lower bound on the running time of an algorithm for listing all minimal dominating...

Incremental construction of Minimal Tree Automata [online]
PublicationWe describe an algorithm that allows the incremental addition or removal of unranked ordered trees to minimal frontier-to-root deterministic tree automaton (DTA). The algorithm takes a tree t and a minimal DTA A as input; it outputs a minimal DTA A' which accepts the language L(A) accepted by A incremented (or decremented) with the tree t. The algorithm can be used to efficiently maintain dictionaries which store large collections...

Control conditions for geocomputing within general hypoplasticity
PublicationPrzedstawiono w artykule analizę oryginalności i stabilności problemu warunków brzegowych (BVP). Zaprezentowano niektóre warunki numeryczne, dzięki którym można uzyskać oryginalne i stabilne rozwiązania w zakresie hypoplastyczności. Przeanalizowano wiele teoretycznych aspektów, które pojawiają się wskutek zmiany typu równań różniczkowych. Wyprowadzono kryteria dla przypadku liniowego, dobrze postawionego problemu i dla stabilności...

Badania mieszanek mineralno-cementowo-emulsyjnych (MCE)

Minimal surfaces and conservation laws for bidimensional structures
PublicationWe discuss conservation laws for thin structures which could be modeled as a material minimal surface, i.e., a surface with zero mean curvatures. The models of an elastic membrane and micropolar (six-parameter) shell undergoing finite deformations are considered. We show that for a minimal surface, it is possible to formulate a conservation law similar to three-dimensional non-linear elasticity. It brings us a path-independent...

Minimal and maximal solutions of differential equations with a singularmatrix.

General analysis of braodband signal spatial filtration.
PublicationPrzedstawiono ogólną metodę wyznaczania charakterystyk kierunkowych filtrów przestrzennych dla hydroakustycznych sygnałów przestrzennych. Omówiono wpływ szerokości widma odbieranych sygnałów na szerokość wiązki i poziom listków bocznych. Pokazano skutki oszczędnych metod filtracji przestrzennej stosowanych przy odbiorze sygnałów wąskopasmowych, gdy odbierane są sygnały szerokopasmowe.

Minimal transverse reinforcement of reinforced concrete members

The effect of morphology and crystalline structure of Mo/MoO3 layers on photocatalytic degradation of water organic pollutants
PublicationMolybdenum oxide layers were formed by anodization of the Mo metallic foil in a water/ethylene glycol-based electrolyte containing fluoride ions. The as-prepared, amorphous samples were annealed in air at different temperatures in a range from 100 C to 700 C. The crystal phase and morphology of anodized and annealed MoO3 layers were investigated using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The...
