TCad 8
TCad 8
About
TCad 8 is a computing environment for high-performance power electronic simulations. With TCad 8, you will be able to analyze sophisticated circuits containing power sources, power electronic converters, electrical machines, mechanical loads and couplings, as well as control systems. TCad 8 will relieve you of most how-to-do-it problems, and so you will be able to concentrate on your real targets.
Using embedded TCad's 8 schematic editor, you can rely on icon-based graphical modeling for entering your task descriptions. You can visualize and manipulate the results using embedded TCad's 8 waveform postprocessor. The batch processing capabilities of TCad 8 will enhance exploratory analyses, parametric optimization, multiple overnight simulations, and the like; also, they may greatly facilitate interfacing other programs, e.g. expert systems, with TCad 8. Owing to the run time monitoring capability of TCad 8, you do not have to wait until the postprocessing to see if your circuit does what you want it to.
Just like the experiment and theoretical analysis, simulation nowadays is a fully recognized scientific, educational, and engineering tool. This is particularly true in the field of power electronics, where theoretical analysis is often impractical, and prototype experiments tend to be costly. The most pronounced feature of power electronic circuits is that they are heavily switched, which fact may lead to numerical problems in power electronic simulations. Another important characteristic of power electronic systems is that they often include electrical machines and mechanical loads, meaning that it is highly desirable that a power electronic simulator should support built-in models thereof. The above two aspects are addressed with greatest care in the design of TCad 8.
TCad 8 has proved ideally suited for:
- Research and Development, where it provides en economic end efficient way of verifying new-concept systems and permits adequate selection of components and their parameters,
- Teaching, where it can be used to anticipate, verify, or generalize on test results obtained during laboratory activities, or to enhance lectures on power electronics and electrical drives by lively graphical presentation of various systems.
TCad 8 has been developed over many years in close contact with its users, and every effort has been taken to face their increasing expectations. The users of earlier versions of TCad will notice and welcome, so we trust, a number of new features embedded in TCad 8, increasing the scope of application and facilitating the use of the package.

ACADEMIC LICENSE
For academic centers we offer a special discount, by increasing the number of available licenses.
EDUCATIONAL LICENSE
Educational TCad 8 offer is aimed at high schools.
Educational version of TCad 8 in comparison to the standard one, includes limits in blocking of definable blocks (implementation of own procedures in user’s blocks) and on simplified recording of work progress. Those limits do not bear negatively on the functionality of the software in the area of didactic application.
NON-LICENSED
TCad 8 simulator is available for free in the LT version.
The limitations on LT version are as follows:
- definable blocks are not available (implementation of user’s own procedures in user’s blocks),
- facilitation of recording processes is turned off (no option to save the scheme and limitation of formats to save computed waveforms).
The above limitations do not preclude from checking TCad’s 8 software usefulness.
