THE DETERMINATION OF ABRASION RESISTANCE OF SELECTED BIOMATERIALS FOR THE FRICTION PAIRS IN THE HIP JOINT ENDOPROSTHESIS
The key requirement for the modern endoprosthesis is high durability of the friction components, which results in long and trouble-free operation in the human body. The durability of currently used endoprosthesis is often limited by tribological wear processes of friction components (e.g. between the head and the acetabular component in a hip joint endoprosthesis) [8, 19, 23, 24]. In order to compare the tribological wear, tribological...
Results from tests on bolted connection components for evaluation of friction coefficient in various contact conditions
The main purpose of the work was the analysis and evaluation of the self-locking quality of a bolted joint covered with Xylan 1070 coating, with comparison to the classic bolts lubricated with Molykote compound during assembly. The second part of the work was the verification of the compliance of the bolts and nuts used in the installation with the ASME B1.1 norm.
In an industrial project concerning sliding bearings, a sliding pair was selected of high alloy steel vs. industrial grade DLC coated high alloy steel as a basis for an innovative design of high performance sliding bearings lubricated with a synthetic oil for use in geared transmission units. The development process required credible data on the ultimate resistance of the sliding pair to very high contact stress. An experimental...
