Borned in Warsaw in 1953, graduated in 1970 in econometrics at Main School of Planning and Statistics. Since 1981 employed in the Main School of Planning and Statistics later Warsaw School of Economics (WSE) in the Unit of Econometry in Collegium of Economic Analysis. 

Was in the Warsaw School of Economics elected for Vice-Rector in 1990 and 1993, for Dean of Graduate Studies in 1996, for Rector in 1999 and 2002, for Dean of Collegium of Economic Analysis in 2005 and 2008. In 2016 elected for Rector again. 

 Employed in the past as well in Zjednoczenie Przemysłu Piwowarskiego, Instytut Organizacji Przemysłu Maszynowego ORGMASZ, Komisja Planowania (later CUP).

 In 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015 was elected for Senate of Poland as a Senator.

 Head of Civil Service in the period 2005-2006 and President of Polish Acreditation Commission between 2008-2015.

 Former member of the swimming team of CWKS Legia. President of the Executive Board of Academic Sport Association 2003-2016.
