  • High-resolution fire danger forecast for Poland based on the Weather Research and Forecasting Model
    Publikacja

    - INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF WILDLAND FIRE - Rok 2022

Due to climate change and associated longer and more frequent droughts, the risk of forest fires increases. To address this, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management implemented a system for forecasting fire weather in Poland. The Fire Weather Index (FWI) system, developed in Canada, has been adapted to work with meteorological fields derived from the high-resolution (2.5 km) Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model....

  • Long-Term GNSS Tropospheric Parameters for the Tropics (2001-2018) Derived from Selected IGS Stations
    Publikacja

    - Rok 2022

This paper describes dataset “Tropospheric parameters derived from selected IGS stations in the tropics for the years 2001-2018” contains GNSS-derived zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD), a posteriori corrected zenith wet delay (ZWD), and precipitable water vapour (PWV) time series. These troposphere-related data were estimated for the Jan 2001 – Dec 2018 period for 43 International GNSS Service (IGS) stations located across the global...

  • Simulations of the Derecho Event in Poland of 11th August 2017 Using WRF Model
    Publikacja

    - Rok 2022

This series contains datasets related to the forecasting of a severe weather event, a derecho, in Poland on 11 August 2017. The simulations were conducted using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model version 4.2.1 with different initial and boundary conditions of the pressure and model levels derived from 5 global models: Global Forecast System (GFS), Global Data Assimilation System (GDAS), European Centre for Medium-Range...

  • Analysis of the Impact of Galileo Observations on the Tropospheric Delays Estimation
    Publikacja

    - Rok 2017

In this study we present analysis of the impact of Galileo observations on the ZTD and tropospheric gradients estimation. The tropospheric parameters were obtained in various scenarios, which differ from each other only in used satellite systems: Galileo-only, GPS-only, GPS/Galileo, GPS/GLONASS and GPS/GLONASS/Galileo. Then, comparative analysis between Galileo-only solution and the other ones, was carried out. As a reference,...

  • Efficient Usage of Dense GNSS Networks in Central Europe for the Visualization and Investigation of Ionospheric TEC Variations
    Publikacja

    - SENSORS - Rok 2017

The technique of the orthogonal projection of ionosphere electronic content variations for mapping total electron content (TEC) allows us to visualize ionospheric irregularities. For the reconstruction of global ionospheric characteristics, numerous global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers located in different regions of the Earth are used as sensors. We used dense GNSS networks in central Europe to detect and investigate...

  • Impact of Galileo Observations on the Position and Ambiguities Estimation of GNSS Reference Stations
    Publikacja

    - Rok 2017

Development of Galileo navigation system has caused that it is increasingly used in various areas. One of the most important of them is precise positioning of the reference networks. In this paper we present the impact of Galileo observations on the differential precise positioning as well as ambiguities resolution of selected GNSS stations. We tested five different solutions: GPS-only, Galileo-only, GPS/Galileo, GPS/GLONASS and...

  • Investigation of some magnetospheric phenomena of geomagnetic storm on March 17, 2013 based on observations from GNSS and NOAA-15 satellite
    Publikacja

    - Rok 2017

Substantial variations of magnetospheric electron fluxes of low and intermediate energies at an altitude of ~ 800 km at different phases of the geomagnetic storm were investigated. The ionosphere and plasmasphere response was analyzed using TEC variation maps over the Central Europe. A concept of the connection of TEC variations above the Central Europe and spatially inhomogeneous fluxes of energetic particles is being proposed.

  • Investigation of the impact of ITRF2014/IGS14 on the positions of the reference stations in Europe

In January 2017, the new realization of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF) – ITRF2014, was released. Besides the higher accuracy and consistency of the new frame, an entirely new element – the post seismic deformation - was included. Moreover, the definition of the fundamental points has also been changed. All changes related to the new reference frame haveconsequences in the precise positioning using GNSS observations....

  • Spatial pattern of ASG-EUPOS sites
    Publikacja

    - Open Geosciences - Rok 2017

The article presents the spatial pattern analysis of the ASG-EUPOS permanent GNSS stations in Poland. Using different methods and tools (nearest neighbour, Riplay’s K-function, morphology of Thiessen polygons) we proved that the station distribution model changes within scales. At short distances up to 65 km, which are typical lengths in the network, stations are irregularly dispersed. Increasing this distance to 130 km and over...
