Abstrakt
The level of economic activity of women in Poland is the lowest among Baltic Sea Region countries. The analysis of Europe 2020 targets, shows that at least 3 of the 5 main objectives relate, more or less, to women (e.g. participation in labor market). The objective concerning social inclusion assumes the increase in the employment rate of men and women (aged 20-64) in Poland up to 71%. To achieve this goal, support programs to acquire new skills and modernization of the labor market are required. In the medium term, Poland has to face a very low labor force participation rate, in particular among women, as well as the quality of vocational training and education. The low level of public and private R&D spending, weak links between science and industry and the poor innovation performance should be also improved. There are a number of recommendations for Poland : e.g. more efforts towards increasing labor market participation of women by ensuring stable funding and investment in public infrastructure, provision of qualified staff and affordable access to education and training (e.g. the business start-up). Moreover, taking additional measures to ensure innovation-friendly business environment is strongly recommended. In this area improvement of access to finance for research and development activities should be a good tool. In this article, statistics concerning women economic activity and their entrepreneurship are compared and analyzed to answer whether Europe 2020 Strategy aims are achievable.
