Structures for parameterization, meshing and data exchange of topologically related surfaces of a ship hull
Abstrakt
This paper presents proposal of data structures for storage and processing of a parametric three-dimensional model of a midship hull sections. The model consists of coarse surfaces like: decks, frames, girders, stiffeners, brackets, partitions etc. bounded by topological relations. All workshop details are omitted as the model is intended for numeric calculations. Proposed data structures are prepared to facilitate changes in the model dimensions and automatic mesh generation. It is assumed to keep the model consistent and assure certain mesh parameters. The aim is to enable as quick as possible method of a midship hull model generation instead of time consuming modeling in a CAD program. Such approach enables quick prototyping and supports decisions during the design process. It also facilitates data exchange and serves for standardization. Parameterization of a frame cross-section and a transverse bulkhead of a typical bulk carrier are presented as examples and resulting three-dimensional meshed models are depicted.
