Abstrakt
Apart from medicine and philosophy, deliberations about thanatology - the science of dying and death - are nowadays a subject of interest in psychol-ogy, pedagogy, anthropology, sociology or theology. It seems that there is also space for such deliberations in the field of architecture. This may con-cern the conditions and dignity of death (i.e. in a hospice) but also matters related to the design of the burial and memorial sites. The goals of this thesis are: determining relations between thanatology and architecture, presenting them as a research problem and introducing the term thanatoarchitecure.
