  • Influence of Acute Jugular Vein Compression on the Cerebral Blood Flow Velocity, Pial Artery Pulsation and Width of Subarachnoid Space in Humans

    Publikacja

    - PLOS ONE - Rok 2012

Celem pracy jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań dotyczących oceny wpływu silnego obustronnego zwężenia żył szyjnych na amplitudę pulsacji i zmiany szerokości przestrzeni podpajęczynówkowej, prędkość przepływu mózgowego krwi, obwodowe ciśnienie krwi oraz możliwe relacje między wymienionymi parametrami.

  • Modelling of blood flow: from macro to microscales

    Publikacja

The aim of this paper it to review various scale approaches to blood flow modelling. Blood motion may be described by three types of mathematical models according to the observed scales or resolutions, namely microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic description. The above approaches are discussed together with their advantages and disadvantages. Several results of mesoscopic simulations are presented.

  • Numerical solutions for blood flow in elastic vessels

    Publikacja

    - MATHEMATICAL METHODS IN THE APPLIED SCIENCES - Rok 2020

We consider the differential–algebraic system for the blood flow and pressure in the systemic arteries. By the operator splitting method, we transform the system into the hyperbolic one, introduce the bicharacteristics, and perform the time–space nonuniform discretization, obtaining the innovative difference scheme. Our results are illustrated with numerical experiments.

  • Doppler blood flow recordings

    Dane Badawcze
    open access

Vital signals registration plays a grate role in biomedical engineering and education process. Well acquired data allow future engineers to observe certain physical phenomenons as well learn how to correctly process and interpret the data. This data set was designed for students to learn about Doppler phenomena and to demonstrate correctly and incorrectly...

  • Discrete-continuous optimisation of an axial flow blood pump

This paper presents results of discrete-continuous optimisation of an axial flow blood pump. Evolution Strategies (ES) are used as a global optimisation method in order to localise the optimal solution in relatively short time. The whole optimisation process is fully automated. This also applies to geometry modelling. Numerical simulations of the flow inside the pump is performed by means of the Reynolds-Average Navier-Stokes...

  • GENERALISED HERSCHEL MODEL APPLIED TO BLOOD FLOW MODELLING

    Publikacja

    - TASK Quarterly - Rok 2012

This paper introduces a new rheological model of blood as a certain generalisation of the standard Herschel-Bulkley model. This model is a rheological constitutive equation and belongs to the group of the so-called generalised Newtonian fluids. Experimental data is compared with results, obtained from the new model, to demonstrate that it allows for the best agreement together with Luo-Kuang model. The new model may be easily implemented...

Vital signals registration plays a significant role in biomedical engineering and education process. Well acquired data allow future engineers to observe certain physical phenomena as well learn how to correctly process and interpret the data. This dataset was designed for students to learn about Doppler phenomena and to demonstrate correctly and incorrectly acquired signals as well as the basic methods of signal processing. This...

  • Continuous blood pressure monitoring by photoplethysmography - signal preprocessing requirements based on blood flow modelling

    Publikacja

Objective. The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of the signal sampling frequency and low-pass filtering on the accuracy of the localisation of the fiducial points of the photoplethysmographic signal (PPG), and thus on the estimation of the blood pressure (i.e. the accuracy of the estimation). Approach. Statistical analysis was performed on 3,799 data samples taken from a publicly available database. Four PPGfiducial...

  • Blood Pressure Estimation Based on Blood Flow, ECG and Respiratory Signals Using Recurrent Neural Networks

    Publikacja

The estimation of systolic and diastolic blood pressure using artificial neural network is considered in the paper. The blood pressure values are estimated using pulse arrival time, and additionally RR intervals of ECG signal together with respiration signal. A single layer recurrent neural network with hyperbolic tangent activation function was used. The average blood pressure estimation error for the data obtained from 21 subjects...
