Active feedback noise control in the presence of impulsive disturbances
PublikacjaThe problem of active feedback control of a narrowband acoustic noise in the presence of impulsive disturbances is considered. It is shown that, when integrated with appropriately designed outlier detector, the proposed earlier feedback control algorithm called SONIC is capable of isolating and rejecting noise pulses. Fourier transforms on Cantor sets: A study in non-Diophantine arithmetic and calculus
PublikacjaFractals equipped with intrinsic arithmetic lead to a natural definition of differentiation, integration, and complex structure. Applying the formalism to the problem of a Fourier transform on fractals we show that the resulting transform has all the required basic properties. As an example we discuss a sawtooth signal on the ternary middle-third Cantor set. The formalism works also for fractals that are not self-similar.

Curb-to-Barrier Face Distance Variation an a TB51 Bridge Barrier Crash Test Simulation
PublikacjaThis paper addresses the problem of road safety regarding barrier placement as relative to the curb. A short summary of existing regulations is presented. Numerical simulations using the explicit finite element system Ls- Dyna are shown. In the analysis, variable distance between the barrier and the curb is assumed. The obtained result reveals that the distance has little impact on the working width of the barrier.

Na przykładzie testowania amplitudy sygnału obliczono poziomy ryzyka według znanych z literatury i proponowanych definicji. Różnice między wynikami wskazują, że problem jest istotny. Dempster-shafer theory-based trust and selfishness evaluation in mobile ad hoc networks
PublikacjaThe paper addresses the problem of selfishness detec-tion in mobile ad hoc networks. It describes an approach based on Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. Special attention is paid to trust evaluation and using it as a metric for coping with (weighted) recommendations from third-party nodes. Efficiency and robustness of the pre-sented solution is discussed with an emphasis on resil-iency to false recommendations.

PublikacjaOmówiono problem stateczności powłok walcowych przy działaniu wewnętrznego podciśnienia. Jest to zagadnienie szczególnie ważne dla stalowych zbiorników i silosów. Scharakteryzowano oryginalne stanowisko badawcze opracowane w Politechnice Gdańskiej. Podanowyniki badań modeli o trzech smukłościach. Wyniki doświadczalne porównano z numerycznie wyznaczonym podcisnieniem krytycznym. Uzyskano dobrą zbieżność.

Bifurcation of equilibrium forms of an elastic rod on a two-parameter Winkler foundation
PublikacjaWe consider two-parameter bifurcation of equilibrium states of an elastic rod on a deformable foundation. Our main theorem shows that bifurcation occurs if and only if the linearization of our problem has nontrivial solutions. In fact our proof, based on the concept of the Brouwer degree, gives more, namely that from each bifurcation point there branches off a continuum of solutions.

Numerical-analytic methods for differential-algebraic systems
PublikacjaMetodę numeryczno-analityczną połączoną z metodą porównawczą zastosowano do układów równań różniczkowo-algebraicznych z linowymi warunkami brzegowymi otrzymując warunki dostateczne na istnienie rozwiązania. O prawych stronach zagadnienia zakładano warunek Lipschitza. Otrzymano oszacowania błędów. Problem z odchylonymi argumentami był również przedmiotem rozważań tej pracy.

Filtr cyfrowy o zmiennym opóźnieniu ułamkowym
PublikacjaW artykule rozważono problem projektowania szerokopasmowego filtru cyfrowego o zmiennym opóźnieniu ułamkowym. Filtr ten przeznaczony jest do zmiany szybkości próbkowania sygnału dyskretnego jako interfejs umożliwiający współpracę systemów cyfrowych, np. akustycznych lub wizyjnych, o różnych standardach szybkości próbkowania. PublikacjaArtykuł rozważa problem estymacji częstotliwości zaszumionego, sinusoidalne-go sygnału zespolonego. Częstotliwość wyznaczana jest w oparciu o autoregre-syjny model sygnału. W pracy wykazano, że wprowadzenie decymacji sygnału po-zwala na redukcję rzędu modelu autoregresyjnego, a tym samym powoduje znacz=ne zmniejszenie złożoności obliczeniowej metody.

PublikacjaPrzedyskutowano problem rozpoznawania degradacji geometrycznej. Skuteczne zastosowanie wybranego typu sieci neuronowej (SSN) jest prezentowane w referacie. SSN wykrywająca typy degradacji geometrycznej wykazała wysoką jakość. Pokazano pewną możliwość ekstrapolacji takich SSN. PublikacjaWe discuss some of our favorite open questions about Ramsey numbers and a related problem on edge Folkman numbers. For the classical two-color Ramsey numbers, we first focus on constructive bounds for the difference between consecutive Ramsey numbers. We present the history of progress on the Ramsey number R(5,5) and discuss the conjecture that it is equal to 43.

PublikacjaPrzedyskutowano problem zwiększenia dokładności rozpoznawania wielokrotnych degradacji eksploatacyjnych urządzeń składowych dużych obiektów energetycznych. Zastosowani sieć neuronową (SSN) o skokowych funkcjach przejścia. Sprawdzono możliwości przyspieszenia treningu sieci neuronowych. Estimation of wind pressure acting on the new palm house in Gdansk
PublikacjaThis paper deals with the problem of numerical simulations of wind loads acting on a Palm House with complex geometry. Flow simulations with aid of computational fluid dynamics procedures have been performed to check if the pressure distributions for the structure are greater than those calculated using the standard design codes with assumption that the Palm House horizontal cross sections are described by smooth cylinders.

Two-Stage Identification of Locally Stationary Autoregressive Processes and its Application to the Parametric Spectrum Estimation
PublikacjaThe problem of identification of a nonstationary autoregressive process with unknown, and possibly time-varying, rate of parameter changes, is considered and solved using the parallel estimation approach. The proposed two-stage estimation scheme, which combines the local estimation approach with the basis function one, offers both quantitative and qualitative improvements compared with the currently used single-stage methods.

PublikacjaArtykuł podejmuje problem pękania w zginanych belkach betonowych. Proces pękania był obserwowany przy zastosowaniu mikrotomografii . Zaobserwowany proces był symulowany numerycznie przy zastosowaniu metody elementów skończonych i metody elementów dyskretnych. Beton był opisany jako materiał 4-fazowy. Otrzymano dobrą zgodność wyników numerycznych z doświadczalnymi.

Positive solutions to Sturm–Liouville problems with non-local boundary conditions
PublikacjaIn this paper, the existence of at least three non-negative solutions to non-local boundary-value problems for second-order differential equations with deviating arguments α and ζ is investigated. Sufficient conditions, which guarantee the existence of positive solutions, are obtained using the Avery–Peterson theorem. We discuss our problem for both advanced and delayed arguments. An example is added to illustrate the results.

Implementation of discrete convolution using polynomial residue representation

Direct detection of quantum entanglement
PublikacjaBasing on positive maps separability criterion we propose the experimentally viable, direct detection of quantum entanglement. It is efficient and does not require any a priori knowledge about the state. For two qubits it provides a sharp (i.e., “if and only if”) separability test and estimation of amount of entanglement. We view this method as a new form of quantum computation, namely, as a decision problem with quantum data structure.
