Soft X-ray Induced Production of Neutral Fragments in High-Rydberg States at the O 1s Ionization Threshold of the Water Molecule
PublikacjaDissociation of water molecules after soft X-ray absorption can yield neutral fragments in high-Rydberg (HR) states. We have studied the production of such fragments by field ionization and ion time-of-flight (TOF) spectrometry. Neutral HR fragments are created at all resonances below the O 1s ionization potential (IP) and particularly within 1 eV above the O 1s IP. The latter effect is due to the recapture of the O 1s photoelectrons...

The experiments were performed at the Gas Phase beamline of the Elettra synchrotron radiation laboratory (Trieste, Italy), exploiting a combined soft X-ray excitation with pulsed-field ionization and ion time-of-flight (TOF) spectrometry...

Yields and Time-of-Flight Spectra of Neutral High-Rydberg Fragments at the K Edges of the CO2 Molecule
PublikacjaWe have studied the production of neutral fragments in high-Rydberg (HR) states at the C 1s and O 1s edges of the CO2 molecule by performing two kinds of experiments. First, the yields of neutral HR fragments were measured indirectly by ionizing such fragments in a static electric field and by collecting resulting singly charged positive ions as a function of the photon energy. Such measurements reveal not only excitations below...

Assessment of the Feasibility of Energy Transformation Processes in European Union Member States
PublikacjaThe energy transition is now treated in most countries as a necessary condition for their long-term development. The process of energy transformation assumes the simultaneous implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are a major challenge for modern economies and introduce significant restrictions in their functioning. Our study aims to group EU member states according to their ability to achieve energy transition...

Photofragmentation of tetrahydrofuran molecules in the vacuum-ultraviolet region via superexcited states studied by fluorescence spectroscopy
PublikacjaPhotofragmentation of tetrahydrofuran molecules in the vacuum-ultraviolet region, producing excited atomic and molecular fragments, has been studied over the energy range 14-68 eV using photon-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. Excited hydrogen atoms H(n), n = 3-11, have been detected by observation of the Hα to Hı lines of the Balmer series. The diatomic CH(A2Δ), CH(B2Σ-) and C2(d3Πg) fragments, which are excited to low vibrational...

Reliability estimation of underground horizontal fuel tank limit states
PublikacjaFuel tanks are designed with regard to standard loads and operating conditions. The investigations of the paper show the impact of such factors as tank corrosion and other means on the variation of stress fields and deformation of the underground horizontal tank shell. The introduction of probabilistic methods allows for structural reliability assessment. While the computational time of the entire tank FEM model is high, the preliminary...

Economic growth, structural change and quality upgrading in New Member States
PublikacjaThe purpose of this research is to present the recent developments concerning structural change and productivity growth in New Member States and the role played in such process by country specific factors. We focus on ten countries (NMS-10) which joined the EU in 2004 and analyze productivity dynamics of their labor structures between the years 1995 and 2005 in a comparative setting versus EU-15 economies. NMS-10 have gone through...

Variational principles for bound states of Schrödinger and Dirac equations allowing the use of discontinuous trial functions
PublikacjaWe present systematic constructions of variational principles for energies of bound states of the Schroedinger and Dirac equations. The principles allow the use of discontinuous trial functions. The method employed is based on a generalized Lagrange procedure. Relationships between our variational principles and those available in the literature are established.

Quenching of bright and dark excitons via deep states in the presence of SRH recombination in 2D monolayer materials
PublikacjaTwo-dimensional (2D) monolayer materials are interesting systems due to an existence of optically non-active dark excitonic states. In this work, we formulate a theoretical model of an excitonic Auger process which can occur together with the trap-assisted recombination in such 2D structures. The interactions of intravalley excitons (bright and spin-dark ones) and intervalley excitons (momentum-dark ones) with deep states located...

Comparison of Renewable Energy Sources in ‘New’ EU Member States in the Context of National Energy Transformations
PublikacjaThe European Union strives to create sustainable, low-carbon economies; therefore, energy policies of all member states should move towards renewable energy sources (RES). That concerns also the so-called new EU member states. These countries, on the one hand, are characterized by significant historical similarities in terms of post-communist legacy and adopted development strategies linked with the EU membership, and on the other...

Modular high precision high current source for special applications — Simulation and verification
PublikacjaThis paper presents selected issues concerning realization of high precision high current source for special applications, where high demands of output parameters of such device are required. A new 80 kW prototype of modular high precision high current source is presented, where output current accuracy reaches 5x10-5. This paper presents also results of operation of the simulation model and of the prototype converter. In order...

Zrównoważony rozwój lokalny. Podstawy teoretyczne i działania praktyczne
PublikacjaRozwój zrównoważony to jedna z koncepcji rozwoju lokalnego. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono teoretyczne podstawy rozwoju lokalnego. Omówiono najpowszechniej...

Cascading transitions toward unconventional charge density wave states in the quasi-two-dimensional monophosphate tungsten bronze P4W16O56
PublikacjaSingle crystals of the m = 8 member of the low-dimensional monophosphate tungsten bronzes (PO2)4(WO3)2m family were grown by chemical vapour transport technique and the high crystalline quality obtained allowed a reinvestigation of the physical and structural properties. Resistivity measurements revealed three anomalies at TC1 = 258 K, TC2 = 245 K and TC3 = 140 K, never observed until now. Parallel X-ray diffraction investigations...

Enhanced Mobility and Large Linear Nonsaturating Magnetoresistance in the Magnetically Ordered States of TmNiC2
PublikacjaWe have studied the magnetic, magnetotransport, and galvanomagnetic properties of TmNiC2. We find that the antiferromagnetic and field induced metamagnetic and ferromagnetic orderings do not suppress the charge density wave. The persistence of Fermi surface pockets, open as a result of imperfect nesting accompanying the Peierls transition, results in an electronic carriers mobility of the order of 4 × 103 cm2 V−1 s−1 in ferromagnetic...

Rotationally invariant bipartite states and bound entanglement
PublikacjaW pracy rozważano stany kwantowe niezmiennicze na działanie grupy SO(3). Pokazano, że w przypadku, gdy pierwszy podukład ma parzysty wymiar większy lub równy cztery oraz drugi podukład ma wymiar dowolny, większy niż pierwszy to pośród takich stanów zawsze istnieje splątanie związane.

On quantum cryptography with bipartite bound entangled states
PublikacjaOstatnio pokazano bezpośrednie zastosowanie splątania związanego w kryptografii kwantowej. W niniejszym artykule dokonano przeglądu niektórych najnowszych osiągnięć dotyczących tego zagadnienia. W szczególności przypomniano istotne pojęcia i definicje. Ponadto podano nową konstrukcję stanów o splątaniu związanym, posiadających bezpieczne korelacje, dostarczając w ten sposób niskowymiarowe (6x6) stany o splątaniu związanym z niezerowym...
