ASON/GMPLS simulator

Automatically Switched Optical Network with utilization of Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching protocols is named as ASON/GMPLS.

The general standardization of ASON is provided in International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T)
recommendations and GMPLS protocols utilization in ASON network is proposed by ITU-T, Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) organizations.

The purpose of the ASON/GMPLS architecture is to support switched and soft permanent connections in a high capacity core optical network.
The ASON/GMPLS control plane is composed of different components that support specific functions. The interactions and the information flow
are achieved via interfaces and are described in ITU-T recommendations.

The presented ASON/GMPLS simulator is suitable for simulating core optical control plane with hierarchical control plane structure.
The simulator is realized in OMNeT++ environment and includes Resource Reservation Protocol with Traffic Engineering Extensions (RSVP-TE),
Diameter protocol, Link Management Protocol (LMP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) mechanisms protocols. After simulation, the results
are recored in separate .sca and .vec files. The basic analysis in form of displaying vector and scalar data and histograms is provided by
the OMNeT++ Integrated Development Enviornment (IDE).Sophisticated result analysis is performed in ASON/GMPLS simulator with the use of
dedicated sripts in Python language.

The demonstration of ASON/GMPLS simulator is provided as follows:
- introduction - the structure of the simulator,
- running and performing simulations,
- results and measurements.
