General description
Since childhood, I have been accompanied by the sound of a typewriter or the scratching of a rapidograph on tracing paper, it was my father - then M.Eng.he worked every day until late at night in shipbuilding.
I have been fascinated with shipbuilding since I was a child.
When I was 14, my father took me to the modeling club at the Gdańsk Shipyard, where I gained numerous practical skills.
I remember in the evenings, when I was going to classes, the second shift was working in the shipyard - from the bridge at the Gdańsk Shipyard stop you could see ships on the slipways, you could see the reflections from welding and you could hear hammers.
Nevertheless, I played a trick on my parents and went to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology.
However, as luck would have it, I found a job at the Shipbuilding Faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology. Since 1996, when I started working, I have been dealing with machine design problems, and I am particularly interested in: - bearings of ship drive shafts, - electric and hybrid drives for ships, yachts and other means of transport, - environmental impact of means of transport from their design to disposal, i.e. LCA - "life cycle assessment". I am glad that my scientific works are useful in practice and allow me to contribute, I hope, to slowing down the process of environmental degradation.
I specialize in laboratory research and I designed and built a large part of my laboratory base myself.
I still like to get dirty in the laboratory and workshop, even though some people say it's strange and inappropriate for a professor. I am proud of my international cooperation with leading manufacturers of marine bearings and lubricants as well as research centers.
My particular pride is the laboratory:
