Description

This is the histopathological image of BRAIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

Clinical description: Brain tumor - left hippocampus: Fragments of soft, beige tissue of total dimensions of 3.5x2x0.7 cm.

Classification code: GLIOMAS

Diagnosis: Astrocytoma, NOS

Result of the histopathological examination: Anaplastic astrocytoma (WHO III). IHC: GFAP(+), Olig2(+), NSE(-), IDH1/R132H(-), p53 (-), Ki67 10%. Mutation testing of IDH1/2 and TP53 genes and 1p/19q codeletion is advised.
