Description

This is the histopathological image of BRAIN tissue sample obtained in Medical University Gdańsk and deposited in ZMDL-GUMED. The sample image was taken using: Pannoramic 250 3DHistech slide scanner (20x magnification) and saved to DICOM format.

The detailed information about the patient, sample, and diagnosis are as follows:

Clinical description: Transposition of great arterial trunks (TGA), ventricular sept defect (VSD). Cyanosis. Heart failure. Condition after anatomical correction of a heart defect - modo Jatene. Lived 10 days.

Result of the histopathological examination: The cerebral samples show signs of oedema of the brain tissue, of periventricular zone (PVZ) congestion, and in one of the samples significant hyperemia of the choroid plexus in the posterior corner with local haemorrhages.
